Managed Switches

Karmic synergy offer a range of solutions to help you gain more control over your networks and systems. Switches are a great way of connecting hardware onto your LAN (Local Area Network) and making it accessible to your network.
However, managed switches give you more control over your LAN traffic and can offer you advanced features to control that traffic. An unmanaged switch simply allows Ethernet connected devices to communicate with one another, such as a PC or network printer.

Karmic synergy can setup and maintain
a switch to provide the following;

  • Quality of Service (QoS)
    This allows us to manage bandwidth and prioritise network traffic so that you can choose what information goes through first. This can speed up the efficiency of key network components.
  • Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
    A Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a protocol allowing network managing and monitoring. This allows you to keep an eye on network status and performance. This can be used to quickly and effectively flag potential problems in your network.
  • Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs)
    Karmic synergy setup VLANs allow us to group devices together without having to run new cables or make changes to your network infrastructure. Once installed they help to reduce unnecessary traffic and allow us to apply things like additional security measures to network communications.
  • Redundancy
    Redundancy will duplicate data so if something fails, important data is backed up.
  • Port Mirroring
    This helps us at Karmic synergy to diagnose network problems. Managed Switches allow us to configure Port Mirroring, this sends copies of traffic to a single port on the same switch which can then be analysed. This then allows us to diagnose and fix many problems without the need to take the network out of service, reducing downtime.
